THE FULL STORY
With roots tracing back to 1368, Château Chevreuil boasts a captivating history. The original castle, constructed in 1405, left its mark with two medieval towers, now adorned by majestic chestnut trees. Remnants of the castle's protective walls and moat offer glimpses into its past.
Tragedy struck in 1794 when the castle was destroyed by fire, only to be rebuilt in 1803. A second fire in the late 20th century tested its resilience. Purchased in 1999 by passionate owners, the estate underwent an 18-month restoration to revive its former glory. Today, the château stands as a testament to meticulous restoration, featuring antique furnishings that capture its original charm.
The estate's evolution continues with the 2007 restoration of the Maison des Vignes, a historic gatehouse, and the addition of a unique, elevated swimming pool perfect for cooling off in the warm Marais climate. The Canardière, was renovated in 2020 by the owner’s daughter and her partner, completing the estate's transformation.
Since opening its doors to guests in 2022, Château Chevreuil has become a sought-after luxury vacation rental, offering visitors an unforgettable blend of history, comfort, and natural beauty.

FOREST AND GARDEN
The Château stands proudly amidst meticulously landscaped gardens. Visitors are invited to discover the serene beauty cultivated here - from fragrant roses to stately linden and chestnut trees. Beyond the inviting pool lies a true treasure: 100 acres of walled woodland, a private sanctuary preserved for diverse wildlife.
Guests can wander through the forest on well-maintained paths, all leading back home to the Château. During leisurely strolls, one might spot majestic oaks, hear the songs of native birds, or catch a glimpse of deer, hares, and squirrels that call this land home. In warmer months, the sight of storks soaring above and water birds thriving in the pond adds to the enchanting atmosphere.
